Meet the Musicians: ROBERT MEYER
Every Friday night for the next seven weeks, we're going to post a profile of one of the amazing musicians of the 2016 festival, starting with...
Name: Robert Meyer
Nickname: 蘿蔔
Instrument: Viola
Friday night libation: Decaf
Favorite piece that's being performed at PCMF 2016 and why:
Mendelssohn's D-major String Quartet. This piece is the embodiment of unabashed, youthful joy from beginning to end, and one of the most thrilling works in any genre. The first time I ever heard it, I could not stay in my seat!
What are you looking forward most about spending a week in the Bay Area?
Making music with old and new friends, and exploring the food and coffee culture, which is different, and I would say in some ways superior, to my beloved New York.
What's the craziest or most memorable thing that's happened to you during a performance?
I was playing an outdoor summer concert, and a fly landed on my music right at the part we were playing. In a moment of confusion, I actually played the fly instead of the printed note. To my knowledge, this is the only known insect composer to have his work performed in front of several thousand concert-goers. Not counting Bee-thoven, of course.

Getting close to announcement day!
First post! We're working furiously to get everything ready for our coordinated announcement of PCMF: the website, the Facebook page, materials for press releases in the Piedmont Post and maybe other Bay Area newspapers.
Much, much thanks to Gray Cathrall at the Piedmont Post and the Piedmont Center for the Arts, who has been instrumental so far in getting this festival off the ground.
